The Capital Region Workforce Investment Board oversees, employment and training
resources and funds designed to serve businesses and job seekers throughout
Albany, Rensselaer and Schenectady Counties. Available services include Existing
Worker Training Funds, New Employee Training Funds and Recruitment Assistance.
EXISTING WORKER TRAINING FUNDS
Upgrading the skills of employees is often required as a result of new technologies,
new production or service procedures, changing customer requirements, job upgrading,
or job promotion. Funds are available to help you upgrade the skills of your
current workforce through classroom training on or off the work site and customized
training to meet the special requirements of a business. Costs related to instruction,
trainee wages while in training, and other expenses related to training may
be funded under this program. Companies must provide matching funds under this
program and employees to be trained must earn $18.00 per hour or less to qualify
for funding.

NEW EMPLOYEE TRAINING FUNDS
Funds are available to help compensate employers for the extraordinary cost
of providing occupational training to employees on-the-job. Your company may
be reimbursed for 50% of the wages paid to train a new employee. For more information
on this program, contact any of our One Stop Centers listed on this website.
